Fikri Mert Altınay works in precision oncology, organoid technologies, and translational cancer research. In clinical oncology, Altınay interprets tissue- and liquid-biopsy-based comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) results, integrates them with the clinical history of the patient and current phase I-III clinical evidence to prepare personalized curation reports, and presents cases at Molecular Tumor Boards (MTBs).

Altınay also has experience in the development of iPSC-derived hepatic organoids, organoid maturation, drug-induced liver injury (DILI) and NASH modeling, and the use of patient-derived cancer organoids in functional precision oncology.
